If you are facing court-martial (criminal prosecution by the military) or an Article 32 investigation (military preliminary hearing) to determine if your case will proceed to court-martial, you face a complex system of laws and the full weight of your own command prosecuting you. At court-martial, you could be facing time in a federal penitentiary, a dishonorable or bad conduct discharge, or an officer’s dismissal from the service. In addition to incarceration and fines, you could face a loss of all your benefits, including retirement. You will be offered a free military lawyer, however hiring civilian counsel in addition can help many servicemembers. We likely have more trial experience and do not need to worry about upsetting senior officers or others behind the prosecution or who may be testifying against you.
